Santa’s diet varies. He’s always trying the latest weight-loss fad. We don’t blame him – it’s a tight squeeze down that chimney. Besides, Mrs. Claus sure makes it tough with all the midnight hot cocoa she brings him in the workshop. But we’re looking out for the jolly old fella (have to make sure our presents safely arrive underneath our tree!) so we’ve picked a few of our favorite cookies to leave out for Santa, no matter what diet he’s on this year:
When Santa is gluten-free…
Gluten-Free Thin Mint Cookies: No gluten? No problem. Goodie Girl’s rendition is as close to the real thing as you're ever going to get. A delicious dark chocolate coating gives way to the minty snap of a cocoa cookie – worry-free, flavor-filled happiness.
When Santa is paleo…
Paleo Chocolate Chip Cookie Mix: For Indie Santa, who went full-on caveman this year! Fortunately, Cooking For Isaiah’s chip-laden, paleo-certified, grain-free, dairy-free, gluten-free mix still results in ooey-gooey cookies fresh from the oven that are as good as it gets. Easy to bake, although it requires superhuman willpower to let them cool without a taste.
When Santa is vegan…
Macadamia Chocolate Chip Bar: This treat created by The Yes Bar is the ultimate mashup of trail mix and chocolate chip cookies. Macadamia, cashew, almond and pecan nuts add real crunch, mixed with the satisfying chew of dried tart cherry and sweet apricot with a dash of flax and chia seeds and a sprinkling of sea salt and ground vanilla bean. Now, let’s just hope Santa doesn’t grow dreadlocks.
Don’t forget a glass of almond milk…
